I actually agree. I have never liked the looks of a single Rav, but this one looks somewhere between a Crosstrek and a 4Runner. I can live with that. I don’t want to buy one, but it won’t be as forgettable when I see them everywhere.

I think Toyota is finally figuring themselves out. Yes, there is some over styling, but it is what it took to get some of the worst offenders stylistically to catch up and it works.

But I don’t mind just the “Adventure” trim. Looks better than the rest. I’d still take a Forester XT despite the CVT any day, if I am forced to get a compact crossover.

Hot Toyotake: Fugly as hell, just like the current 4Runner. Both are the ugliest they’ve been since the name came out.

And both succeeded the best generations of each. IMHO both Toyota and Lexus jumped off a cliff in the styling department in the past few years.

Nice to see they moved away from just a faux floating C-pillar and went straight to the backwards hat roofline a la Mini Cooper Coupe. Bold. Dynamic. Butch. Exciting, definitely not boring. Adventurous, definitely not for spoiled suburbanites.

Just like the stylish and cool CHR that nobody buys. At least this one will sell, not sure if that’s a good thing or not. In my area, this is an AWD Corolla, same driving ethos.

I don’t think this is as over styled CHR and will sell like hotcakes as it won’t offend the old people. (I do like the CHR but not for me or my wife)

Oh yeah will sell, it is (in market position) a lifted Corolla, and will attract the same people who don’t care much for driving, just want some ground clearance and reliability, and maybe the pretense of aggressiveness and adventure. Prepare to see your first one either blindly merging into you, or going 5 under in the left lane.

I think the CHR stupidly being FWD only hurts it most.

It’s kind of bloaty though, I don’t know if it would be more fun or a chore. I wouldn’t want a manual Avalon either, even if it was RWD. Too big for that.

I came up behind a new Camry yesterday... And wow. It looks great. Feels wierd to say that.

But then again, I think the predator grill looks great on most of the Lexus lineup (especially the sportier cars)

How many X1 with RWD actually sold though? I think it is too much of a niche - if Germans won’t really embrace it, it might not be worth it.

FX seems to be a different class to me, bigger, driven like a stereotypical BMW (floor it off the line, no signals).

The VQ drone would irk me, and probably encourage me to drive like an entitled dbag (stereotypical owner demographic). It also reminds me of a catfish for some reason. I think the first FX was a much cleaner design.

I actually like the rugged looks of the 4Runner only in TRD Pro trim in Cement Gray/Quicksand Tan and I think the “ugly” looks are what adds to its appeal. Agree with you on Lexus tho.
